"The Item I Want To Send Is Me" - Delivery Rider Shares Funny Request From Customer
The cutest consignment story that will make your day.
When it comes to delivery services, some requests are run-of-the-mill, while others will leave you with a story to tell
Recently, a Lalamove delivery rider posted a screenshot to Lalamove Malaysia's Facebook Group, sharing how he received a bizarre request for a consignment delivery — the customer himself!
In the in-app messaging platform, the customer stated that the consignment that needed to be delivered was actually the customer himself, and politely asked the abang rider if he could hitch a ride with him to the designated address.
The Facebook post has garnered nearly 8,000 reactions and sparked a flood of heartwarming stories in the comments section, as both delivery riders and customers share their own similar experiences
Here are some of the stories that are found in the comments section:
"I've encountered something similar before. The customer was a fresh grad, on his way to an interview, but his motorcycle suddenly broke down. He wanted to order a Grab, but traffic was terrible and he wouldn't be able to arrive on time.
"In the end, I gave him a ride without charging him anything. Poor kid, he wore so formally for an interview, but his motorcycle gave way," an abang rider shared.
Another heartwarming comment posted by a customer reads, "During Ramadhan two years ago, my five-year-old and I were stuck at Tesco for a long time. I couldn't get a hold of Grab since 4pm.
"Finally, I booked a Lalamove rider and I wrote a similar message like this one to the rider. A rider agreed to pick us up, and remembering that it was the fasting month, he showed sympathy towards me and my child. The traffic was heavy, and it was hard to get a hold of Grab. The distance from Tesco to my home was not even 10 kilometres, but I gave him RM100 instead of the actual fare shown in the app which was around RM20. We return the kindness towards those who are kind to us."
"I once picked up a Chinese girl. When she opened the door, she just adjusted the passenger seat, and sat down without looking at me. I was so confused. Then she said to me, "Just go Miss, I'll pay your toll, and I'll give you free bottled water and food (a 50 sen bread).
"Turns out that it wasn't her first rodeo, because Grab doesn't go through the place where she worked, so she prepares bread and water to persuade Lalamove drivers!"
This is not the abang rider's first bizarre request. In a separate Facebook post, he was asked to sing a birthday song to the receiver of the consignment.
Our delivery riders do their best on a daily basis, while going the extra mile to show their kindness and compassion
Here's a reminder to treat our abang and kakak delivery riders with the same kindness they deserve. Heck, we should be kind to everyone around us, because we can never know the full extent of the situation they may be in, and a simple gesture of kindness can make a huge difference in their day!
