A week after, a member from the society called up and said a dog that shared similarities with Tillie was spotted near a ravine. Hoping the dog to be Tillie, members quickly went to the location, they saw something really touching...

Phoebe, a basset hound, got stuck in a well deep in a ravine in the woods and was unable to climb out. Tillie, a setter, was a loyal companion and stayed with Phoebe for nearly a week, occasionally visiting a family on their property, then heading back into the ravine.

Amy Carey, a member from VPP encouraged owners who lose their dogs to keep looking and don't give up

"Hope is an awfully hard thing to keep open and alive in the face of heartbreak, but it so important for happy endings for missing pets - or even for unhappy endings with closure," she said.

She also reminded owners not to overlook little details when searching for their missing pets

If you have a lost pet and are not getting regular sighting reports, there is a high chance that they are stuck somewhere be it over a slope, in a building, or in this case in a cistern. And a reminder that when trying to find a missing dog, you need to pay attention to even the smallest clues.
