"Eye Of Sauron" — Man Complains About Bright JB Signboard Bathing His Home In Red Light
The signboard has been turned off since his viral post.
A man has recently gone viral for complaining about a bright neon signboard on top of a commercial building in Johor Bahru
According to the Facebook user, Dennis Tan, the AIA signboard on top of Mid Valley Southkey shopping mall was "extremely bright" and "very disturbing".
He shared photos demonstrating how bright the signboard was at nighttime — one photo showed how far the neon sign was from his home, while another showed him standing with a helpless expression in its bright red glow from inside his bedroom.
The post quickly garnered over 12,000 likes and over 6,500 shares, with the photos drawing funny comments from other Facebook users
In less than 24 hours, Tan posted an update saying the neon sign has since been temporarily turned off
He credited the power of Facebook for the issue being solved so quickly, as well as AIA and the Johor Bahru City Council for their quick response.
"Hopefully, your signboard will come back with more peaceful and comfortable lighting," he said in jest.
"Thank you, everyone. Now, there's no more 'Sauron's Eye Tower', 'romantic light', 'red light district', 'rumah ayam', or 'temple' in my room.
"I can sleep with peace and happiness!" he exclaimed, sharing a photo of himself smiling against the same view of the switched off signboard from his home.
