McDonald's Japan Just Released New 'Adult Cream Pies' That Are Totally Safe For Work

McDonald's Japan just rolled out their latest product and it has a very peculiar name
Me when I first heard it:
On 7 January, McD Japan shared a poster of the 'Otona no Cream Pie', which directly translates to "Adult Cream Pie" in English
While the word otona literally translates to "adult" in English, it's actually often used in the Japanese sweets industry to describe confectionery that contains less sugar which makes it "more suitable for adults"
For example, KitKat has a range of otona products for adults that are richer in flavour.
But obviously when English speakers hear the words "adult" and "cream pie", something else comes to mind.
To refer to the adult entertainment industry, the Japanese use the word 'adaruto'. Therefore, majority of the customers in Japan won't really be taken aback by the name of the dessert.
Questionable name aside, the dessert looks delicious.
Just like the pocket pies we have here in Malaysia, it comes with a deep-fried crust and warm filling.
It comes in two different flavours, which are Belgian Chocola and Sweet Fromage.
The Belgian Chocola comes with a chocolate-flavoured crust and a decadent Belgian chocolate filling.
On the other hand, the Sweet Fromage has a Parmesan-flavoured crust and delicious cream cheese filling.
The Adult Cream Pies will be available at McDonald's outlets across Japan starting from 15 January.
They cost JPY150 (RM5.50) each.
