Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced major public transport upgrades during the tabling of Belanjawan 2027 today, 9 October, bringing welcome relief to daily commuters
For Klang Valley commuters, the popular My50 monthly travel pass will continue, benefiting 300,000 Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) bus and rail users.
Meanwhile, KTM Komuter riders get a fresh perk with the new MYKOMUTER50 pass, allowing 40,000 users to save up to RM160 per month.
Free passes will also be provided to 360,000 school students, persons with disabilities, and children under 6 years old.

New trains and a RM3.4 billion rail overhaul are on the way
Addressing recent service disruptions, both Prasarana and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) have been tasked with taking immediate steps to restore smooth train operations.
Prasarana is investing over RM3.4 billion to overhaul its rail network, alongside 42 new train sets procured for Electric Train Service (ETS) and KTM Komuter services.
East Coast travel is also set to receive a boost as Phase 1 of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) from Kota Bharu to Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (ITT Gombak) begins operations this December
The route will extend to Rantau Panjang, complete with a new bus station at the Kota Bharu ECRL station.
Meanwhile, Putrajaya is allocating RM270 million to enhance stage bus networks across major cities, connecting 15 East Coast stations ahead of the ECRL launch.
Another RM1.1 billion is allocated alongside Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to upgrade regional airports and port roads.
