#Belanjawan2027: Digital Nomad Pass Extended By 2 Years

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that existing DE Rantau Nomad Pass holders who have reached the two-year limit will be given an additional two years to continue living and working remotely in Malaysia

During the tabling of Budget 2027 today, 9 October, Anwar announced several initiatives to attract and retain skilled talent in Malaysia.

The DE Rantau Nomad Pass allows eligible foreign digital nomads to live and work remotely in Malaysia for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the option to renew it for another 12 months. It is issued as a Professional Visit Pass by the Immigration Department.

The extension will allow eligible existing pass holders to stay in Malaysia for an additional two years, subject to the stipulated conditions.

Besides that, Anwar announced that spouses of expatriates holding a Category I Employment Pass and a Dependant Pass will be allowed to work in Malaysia from 1 January 2027, subject to the stipulated conditions

"This is to ensure that Malaysia remains a preferred destination for top talent without requiring their spouses to sacrifice their careers," he said.
