Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an increased allocation of RM150 million for the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) during the tabling of Budget 2027 today, 9 October 2026
This reflects a notable increase from the RM100 million initially announced under the 2026 Budget, which received an additional RM50 million in May.
According to Anwar, the primary goal of the expanded budget is to offer targeted training and employment opportunities for Malaysian Indian youths across high-tech sectors
The upskilling initiatives will specifically concentrate on critical modern industries, including industrial automation, technology, and aircraft maintenance.
By steering investments into these specialised fields, the initiative aims to build practical skills and help young people secure long-term career growth.
