Here's our 4D3N itinerary that you can use for your own trips, to help you see the best of what Langkawi has to offer:
Day 1: A warm Langkawi welcome
ACCOMMODATION: Wings by Croske Resort Langkawi
Conveniently located right next door to Langkawi International Airport, it's a great place to stay for the duration of the trip. The rooms are spacious, with a view of vast, open fields and hills.
It has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, and shared lounge offering ample space to unwind.
FOOD: Paloh Restaurant & Bar
This picturesque restaurant is located inside Temple Tree Resort, which is very close to Langkawi International Airport. It serves as a perfect way to start your trip, especially if you're hungry after your flight. It offers both local and international dishes, with the staff being polite and friendly.
After eating, you can spend some time inside the property that houses a zen-like garden, a sacred tree with a temple, and several cats. According to Irene Vairo, the resort manager, the sacred tree is over a century old. The unique aspect of the tree is that its two trees — banyan and palm — are interwoven with each other.
ACTIVITY: Dream Forest Langkawi
Step into an enchanting world reminiscent of Avatar. Inside the Dream Forest, the legends of Langkawi come alive with immersive technology. Inside the theme park, there's a cute little tree village, where visitors can chill around a bonfire, enjoying marshmallows while sipping on butterfly pea tea.
Day 2: A day of adventure on land and sea
ACTIVITY: Langkawi UNESCO geopark mangrove cruise
It's a two-hour guided cruise, with a friendly driver and guide, who are well-spoken. They will share insights about the massive mangrove forest, the stunning limestone mountains, and the wildlife.
If you are lucky and the weather permits, the boat also goes under Gua Kelawar, where you can see bats hanging upside down on the roof of the cove. Did we mention there's a hill that looks like a gorilla?!
FOOD (lunch): Smiling Buffalo Café
Nestled inside a little garden in a traditional house, this café offers a wide array of delicious food, that's especially great if you're in a large group.
A cute café with beautiful, natural surroundings, and easy parking, it has relaxing vibes that make it a great spot to chill and chow down after some activities.
ACTIVITY: Water activities at Cenang Beach
At this picturesque beach, you can partake in some adventurous water activities, including a banana boat ride and parasailing. The jetski adventure is clearly the crowd-favourite. Make sure to bring your swimwear, as well as pack extra towels and clothes.
FOOD (dinner): Hidden Langkawi
It's the perfect spot to have a laidback beach hangout and enjoy a hearty meal while looking out at a gorgeous sunset. Hidden offers a wide variety of Western food, including huge portions of seafood platters. The garlic bread here is to die for.
Day 3: Soaring heights and underwater wonders
ACTIVITY: 3D Art Langkawi
This hidden gem is nestled within the Oriental Village and offers a delightful experience. It is the second-biggest 3D art museum in the world, with themed zones and diverse workmanship types that allow you to traverse different worlds.
3D Art Langkawi isn't just a museum; it's a visual playground offering exciting photo opportunities at every turn, making your Langkawi adventure even more unforgettable.
ACTIVITY: Langkawi SkyCab and Sky Bridge
Take a fun cable car ride to get to one of the world's largest curved suspension bridges. The Sky Bridge perches proudly at a lofty 2,170 feet above the ground, treating you to a breathtaking panorama of the entire island. This architectural marvel truly stands out, with the grandeur of the bridge and the view from the top of Gunung Machinchang creating a sense of awe.
FOOD (lunch): Refuel Café, Oriental Village
Grab a quick lunch at this cosy, little café that's located inside the Oriental Village itself. It serves some of the best Malaysian dishes, including laksa.
ACTIVITY: Underwater World Langkawi
Designed to shed light on issues surrounding aquatic conservation, you'll get up-close-and-personal encounters with sea creatures at this marine and freshwater aquarium, giving you a sense of appreciation for the underwater world. Our personal highlight was the tank featuring blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, as well as the section with cute penguins!
ACTIVITY: Fun cruise and sunset view
A mesmerising and fun cruise to the sea to indulge in some more water sports such as paddleboarding while enjoying music and sipping on non-alcoholic beverages. After a while, sail towards the sunset point along the calming Andaman seas in the comfortable interior of a pontoon cruise.
Day 4: Time to depart
Your day will mostly be spent packing up, checking out, and heading off to the airport. But if you wanna grab a quick bite before your flight, you can head over to Cili Kampung.
Located at a 10-minute drive from the airport, this cosy café serves delectable Malay food and is also vegetarian-friendly.
