AirAsia Cambodia Set To Launch Late 2023, Marking 5th ASEAN Country To Carry Airline Brand
The airline was launched through a joint venture with Sivilai Asia.
To further cement their stronghold in the ASEAN market, AirAsia Aviation Group Limited (AAAGL), the aviation arm of Capital A Berhad, recently launched AirAsia Cambodia through a joint venture agreement with Sivilai Asia, woohoo!
Moving forward, the new airline will build and scale a presence in the Cambodian aviation and tourism industries by launching exciting new destinations, creating job opportunities, and bringing low-cost flights to the country.
The joint venture was signed by Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A Berhad and Vissoth Nam, Director of Sivilai Asia at Rosewood Phnom Penh on 9 December 2022."Capital A continues to focus on ASEAN where we know best and our brand is the strongest. Cambodia is the fifth Asean country where we are continuing our march of being the region's number one mover of people and cargo, and providing a linchpin of economic growth for ASEAN countries," said Tony Fernandes
Vissoth Nam was also overjoyed at this prospect, stating that the company is proud to be the catalyst for a new and affordable airline operating from Cambodia.
He went on to thank Cambodia's government, their tourism partners, and AAGL for this exciting opportunity.“This could not have been achieved without the support from our local government and tourism partners in Cambodia, numerous other relevant authorities and AAAGL,
"We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for their continued support in making AirAsia Cambodia a reality and for giving us the chance to contribute to Cambodia’s government strategy in further expanding its connectivity and promoting tourism in the region. We cannot wait to connect the people of Cambodia to the rest of Asean and beyond soon.”, Nam said.
Subject to obtaining the relevant regulatory approvals, the joint venture is expected to commence operations in late 2023
A few months ago, AirAsia extended a full time opportunity to their riders with a chance to earn up to RM8000
