Sime Darby Motors has recently unveiled the BYD ATTO 3, an all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), the first of its kind to arrive on Malaysian shores

Sime Darby Motors is the official exclusive distributor of BYD vehicles (the automotive subsidiary of the publicly-listed Chinese multinational manufacturer BYD Company) in Malaysia.

Inspired by the attosecond — the smallest time scale unit in physics, the fully electric BYD ATTO 3 is a high-performance electric vehicle (EV) built on BYD's advanced e-platform 3.0.

The cars are touted to provide unrivalled safety, intelligence, and efficiency, as well as excellent battery range, which will allow drivers to travel up to 480km on a single charge.

Malaysians will be able to choose between two battery capacities — a 49.92-kWh Standard Range and 60.48-kWh Extended Range.

Priced from RM149,800, the former variant offers up to 410km of range per charge, while the latter goes up to 480km, and starts from RM167,800.

With BYD's Blade Battery powering both BYD ATTO 3 variants, the EVs include a high starting temperature for exothermic reactions, slow heat release, and low heat generation. This means drivers can expect to experience front-mounted electric motor energy rated at 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 310 of torque.

A pioneer in the battery industry for more than 26 years, BYD also brings new levels of safety with its Blade Battery, which can support up to 7kW of AC charging (Type 2 connection) and DC fast charging (CCS2 connection) at 70 kW or 80 kW.

The BYD ATTO 3 comes in five colours — Parkour Red, Surf Blue, Forest Green, Boulder Grey, and Ski White

Designed by BYD Global Interior Design Director, Michele Jauch-Paganetti, the BYD ATTO 3 sports a modern and clean aesthetic.

Here's a closer look at the design:
- Full LED headlights and taillights inspired by a dragon's eyes and wagging tail
- A large 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, three-spoke steering wheel, and compact virtual instrument cluster
- Stylish designs of the AC vents and door panels, as well as rich two-tone color-coding with new music-inspired design makes for an appealing and spacious ride
- Up to 1,340 litres of boot space with the rear seats down on a 60/40 split, enough for anything you'll need to transport on all sorts of trips

The Sime Darby Motors and BYD partnership is part of the automotive company's commitment to accelerating the transition to EVs and a low carbon mobility future for Malaysia
