“We Come Together When It Really Matters” — Netizens Share Why They're Proud To Be M'sian
Our kind and helpful nature allows us to look out for one another. <3
Malaysia, you're amazing and we love you! <3
From our mouth-watering food that's the paling sedap in the world to our vibrant, diverse culture, there's no place quite like our beloved Malaysia, and Malaysians are just the best! Despite our differences, we come together when it really matters.
We band together and go all out to help someone in need, we cheer our hearts out when our national athletes compete in sporting events, we tolong our neighbours to jaga rumah when they're away, and most importantly, we'll gaduh with whoever dares insult our delicious food, hehehe. ;)
With Hari Kebangsaan coming up soon, we asked some people what they love about being Malaysian. Here's what they had to say:
1. "I'm proud to be Malaysian because no matter what happens, the rakyat always come together to help each other, and it's so heartwarming to see that!"
"Just the other day, someone pinged a photo in our neighbourhood FB group. It was of a handwritten note stuck on a gate that was asking for help because they couldn't afford food. The next day, the person who wrote the note posted a thank you message in the FB group because they had received so much food and cash and help almost immediately. :)"
2. “Wherever we are in the world, Malaysians are super friendly and make you feel right at home”
"When I was studying overseas, I felt super homesick and lonely. But joining a Malaysian student association was the best decision ever! Hanging out with other Malaysians helped me find a home away from home, and it was so fun coming together while overseas to still do the same things we did back in Malaysia. We celebrated Raya, CNY, and Deepavali, and even talked in BM in public when we wanna membawang, hahaha!"
- Tim, 233. "I always feel extra touched and proud when Hari Kebangsaan is coming, because it reminds me of the stories my grandparents told me"
"The stories of what they had to go through when they were young make me feel so bangga to be Malaysian, especially the ones about how my grandfather served in the army. He was even awarded a medal for it, you know!
- Noveeta, 28While we love being Malaysian every day, the feels always kick in even more on 31 August, kan?
Maybe you celebrate by putting up Jalur Gemilang in your home and sticking mini ones on your car. Or perhaps you treat yourself and your family to the iconic Malaysian breakfast of nasi lemak and teh tarik.
The important thing is that you're showing your love for the country in your own way.
Farm Fresh, a local homegrown brand, is also getting into the spirit of Hari Kebangsaan with their limited edition 'Merdeka' milk packs!
Designed by Malaysian graffiti artist Abdul Rashade, the various artwork on the seven different packs beautifully illustrate familiar local sights and landmarks. You'll spot things like our national flower, the Jalur Gemilang, a traditional wau, Tugu Negara, and more! Also, each pack depicts a different letter from the word 'Merdeka'. Gotta love that creativity!
As a multiracial organisation, Farm Fresh understands the importance of unity and inclusivity, as they are committed to provide fresh milk to all Malaysians. From their humble beginnings on a farm in Johor, they currently cover every state and region of Malaysia with high quality milk that is both delicious and affordable. :)
