In conjunction with the upcoming Thaipusam celebrations, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will offer free train fares on 10 and 11 February

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today, 4 February, that commuters in the Klang Valley will be able to ride for free at all KTM Komuter stations along the Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang and Port Klang-Batu Caves routes.

The free rides will begin at midnight on 10 February and end at 11.59pm on 11 February. Commuters won't be charged, but they will need to tap their cards at the exit barrier gates.

"To ensure a smooth transaction process, all payment methods have been transitioned to a cashless system via the KTMB Mobile (KITS) app, Komuter Link card, Touch 'n Go card, local bank debit, and credit cards, as well as physical QR tickets available at ticket counters [will be] free of charge on 10 and 11 February," Loke said.

Additional 24-hour trains will also be available for four days and three nights during the Thaipusam period

To accommodate increased travel during the Thaipusam festival, KTM Komuter will extend its operating hours from 9 to 12 February. Extra trains will run beyond the usual closing times, with the train from Pulau Sebang to Batu Caves departing at 9.55pm and the train from Port Klang to Batu Caves departing at 9.30pm.

Additionally, trains from KL Sentral will run more frequently, with departures every 30 minutes instead of the usual hourly schedule. The Port Klang–Tanjung Malim route will also operate on a full schedule to ensure  adequate service throughout the Thaipusam celebrations.
