IKEA Kuching has confirmed that it will officially open on 27 November 2026, bringing the Swedish furniture retailer's first physical store in East Malaysia to Pines Mall in Batu Kawa
IKEA Malaysia previously announced that the store would open in December, but has now confirmed the earlier opening date in a media release on 28 October.
The new outlet will also mark IKEA Malaysia's first small-format store, offering a more compact shopping experience with around 5,000 home furnishing items.
Even better, shoppers in Sarawak can enjoy the same IKEA prices as customers in Peninsular Malaysia, without an additional East Malaysia price premium.

The new outlet will offer 5,000 home furnishing items
While IKEA Kuching will be smaller than the retailer's existing stores in Damansara, Cheras, Tebrau, and Batu Kawan, shoppers can still expect familiar room displays, home furnishing inspiration, and planning services.
The store will offer products for different areas of the home, including living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining areas, storage, and children's spaces.
Shoppers can also look out for IKEA favourites such as the BILLY bookcase, KALLAX shelving unit, POÄNG armchair, and SKOGSTA dining table.
Selected furniture and accessories will be available to take home immediately, while the wider range of around 5,000 items can be ordered for collection or home delivery.
Customers planning a bigger home makeover can also access IKEA's home furnishing expertise and planning support.

No IKEA trip feels quite complete without a food stop, and Kuching shoppers will get to enjoy some familiar favourites too
IKEA Kuching will introduce a grab-and-go food concept featuring its iconic meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs, and soft-serve ice cream.
There will also be a selection of Swedish food products available for shoppers to bring home.

To celebrate the launch, IKEA Kuching will host activities throughout its opening weekend from 27 to 29 November
Shoppers can also join IKEA Family, the retailer's loyalty programme, to enjoy member benefits, selected offers, and experiences throughout the year.
More details about the opening weekend activities and IKEA Family offers will be announced closer to the launch.
