Jimmy Choo Releases RM58,000 Pink Boots To Celebrate Sailor Moon's 30th Anniversary
The boots are said to be covered in 19,000 Swarovski crystals!
Happy Birthday Sailor Moon!
As one of the global pioneers to introduce many to the world of anime, it seems fitting that her 30th birthday be just as memorable as her presence.
Since its initial release in the form of a Japanese manga series back in 1991, Sailor Moon has been one of the most successful personifications of an anime series worldwide, receiving praise for its art, characterisation, and comedic humour.
Selling out 35 million copies worldwide, the franchise has also generated a whopping USD13 billion (estimated RM58 billion) worldwide in merchandise.
To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of this immensely successful television series, British fashion house, Jimmy Choo, has revealed a pair of limited-edition, fuchsia-coloured boots.
Covered in 19,000 Swarovski crystals, the knee-high boots also feature Sailor Moon's signature crescent moon at the top of the footwear
Taking inspiration from the titular character and the main protagonist of the series, the boots are meant to be an elevated version of Usagi Tsukino's signature battle costume when she transforms into her superhero counterpart, Sailor Moon.
The boots are said to have a 10-centimetre tall heel (which is approximately 3.9 inches high).
They were first put on display on 1 July at the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Museum, which is located in the Roppongi district of Tokyo, Japan. While this was an exclusive exhibit, the boots are said to remain there until 30 December, so the public will have a chance to view this rare creation.
The boots will soon be released in limited quantities for purchase, costing an estimated USD13,196 per pair (roughly RM58,590)
In a comment with Japanese publication, PR Times, the creative director of Jimmy Choo, Sandra Choi, expressed her excitement for the collaboration, stating that the very concept of Sailor Moon that amalgamates fantasy and femininity, aligns itself perfectly with the vision of Jimmy Choo.
The boots have been available for order since 1 July, and will continue to be open to purchase until 15 September this year. Shipping will properly begin in February 2023.
As for those who probably won't be able to afford these boots, I guess it's time to pay a visit to the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Museum before the year ends!
