Mandarin Oriental Uses 200KG's Worth Of Gingerbread To Build A Huge, Delicious House
It's located at the hotel's lobby.
Everyone is prepping for the festive season as Christmas rolls around, and that includes shopping malls, restaurants, and small businesses.
However, one hotel in particular has grabbed our attention.
Joining in on the festivities, Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur recently set up a gigantic gingerbread house in its hotel lobby! And yes, that's actual gingerbread.
Standing tall at 13ft high and 32ft wide, the huge, edible house is made out of 200kgs (1,800 pieces) worth of gingerbread and 145kg of Royal icing
It took the hotel's executive chef Gerald Genson and pastry artist Leong Kar Kit roughly three months to put the whole structure together.
"With the holiday period fast approaching, we thought it would be a great treat for our colleagues and guests to witness something special in the hotel. The inspiration came from wanting to spread more Christmas joy during the holiday, especially after a tough two years during the pandemic," Genson shared.
Leong added that the biggest challenge in setting up the house was deciding where to place it. "Now when guests walk in, they thoroughly get a feast of the senses, from the sights and sounds of Christmas to the scent of freshly baked gingerbread in the lobby," said the mastermind behind the whole project.
The gingerbread house is currently on display at the hotel's lobby until Christmas day, 25 December
