The McDonald's Anugerah Guru Inspirasi (AGI) is back for its fifth year! Once again, the meaningful award is paying tribute to inspiring teachers from all around Malaysia. <3

Since it first began in 2017, AGI has received over 17,000 submissions and awarded more than 81 notable teachers nationwide.

This flagship initiative by McDonald's aims to show appreciation for teachers who have gone beyond their call of duty. Through AGI, McDonald's wants to honour teachers who have not only guided students academically, but also fostered their students' minds and helped them develop various skills through respect and care.

Do you have an amazing teacher who has given their all in educating, shaping, and inspiring you? Shine a spotlight on them by nominating them for AGI 2021!

That's it!

The judging panel consists of representatives from McDonald’s, the Ministry of Education, and the media

They will be working together to meticulously go through all the submissions and choose the winners.

The selection criteria includes improving the academic performance of students, employing innovative and out-of-the-box methods of teaching, going beyond the call of duty to assist students, and the positive impact the teacher has had on students.

"In the past year, teachers all over Malaysia have quickly adapted and have shown ingenuity, resilience and strength as they navigate through these unprecedented times," said Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner, McDonald’s Malaysia

For example, Nancy Maria, a teacher residing in Miri, Sarawak, goes the extra mile by dressing up in traditional costumes to make online classes more engaging.

"They have gone above and beyond as teachers, so in recognition of their passion and effort, we want to continue celebrating them in our fifth Anugerah Guru Inspirasi. McDonald's Malaysia is committed to making sure teachers know they are appreciated and thank them for making a positive difference in the lives of their students," he said.

Azmir added, "A teacher is arguably one of the most important roles in our society as they will go on to mould young minds. Since the pandemic, their roles have become more prominent with the challenges faced during the transition to online learning.

"Some of these inspiring stories have showcased their dedication in nurturing students and we hope to hear more of their incredible efforts. To make sure their sacrifices do not go unnoticed, we are inviting students, parents and teaching fraternities to join us in nominating a teacher for an Anugerah Guru Inspirasi Award."

Nominations are open from 2 to 18 April 2021, so head over to the AGI website to submit your inspirational story about an outstanding teacher now!
