Many of the jobseekers who attend these career fairs not only leave securing their dream jobs, but also bring home tips on how to grow and excel in their careers.

In addition, PERKESO makes the job search process easier for candidates, offering all kinds of assistance, from career counselling and coaching to easy-to-use portals like MYFutureJobs.

Here are a few heartwarming stories from attendees who have benefitted from career fairs by PERKESO:

1. "I have epilepsy, but there were still opportunities for me to be independent with the jobs offered"

"I am Kumarakuru Suppiah, and I have various health problems. Among them are breathing seizures and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)," said the 51-year-old.

Before being laid off in 2023, Kumarakuru worked as a clerk in a company from 1996 to 2005. However, he was terminated due to a seizure attack — the last time he had a seizure was in May 2023.

Initially, PERKESO contacted a leading supermarket for an interview arrangement as a security guard, but it was unsuccessful because the job location was quite far from Kumarakuru's residence. However, PERKESO's efforts did not stop there. They helped Kumarakuru arrange for another interview on 30 December 2023 for a school in Klang, but still, he didn't get the job.

Nevertheless, things turned for the better when Kumarakuru was informed of a job vacancy on 11 January 2024.

"The PERKESO officer helped to arrange the interview session, and now I have gotten a job as a cleaner at a place that's only five to ten minutes away from my house.

"I am very grateful, even though I'll be working as a cleaner with my health condition, the job has helped me to provide for my family. Thank you PERKESO," shared Kumarakuru.

2. "I never imagined that despite being a person with disabilities (PwDs), I could get a job. The best part is that it's so close to my home!"

"My name is Nur Syazwani, 26 years old, and I am a person with disabilities (PwDs) since birth. I began meeting with the PERKESO Employment Services Officer in 2021, where I expressed my desire to receive job assistance.

"Alhamdulillah, the PERKESO officer worked together with my current employer at Econsave Kuala Pilah, to offer me a Sales Assistant position. The best part was, I got a job that was near to my home.

"Thankfully, I'm still working there up to today, and I'll even be welcoming a new baby soon," shared Syazwani.

3. "I registered on the MYFutureJobs job portal because I was looking for a better career change"

Wanting a career change, Aqil Darwish — a graduate and former employee of a company — registered himself on the MYFutureJobs portal.

He attended an interview during a career fair organised by PERKESO on October 31 2023. Through the career fair, he was offered a job that matched his field of study.
