When it comes to taking care of our health, men and women often have differing views. But, is one gender really healthier than the other?

While men may seem stronger physically, according to Banner Health, they often experience chronic health conditions earlier than women and have shorter lives.

Men also tend to keep things to themselves more, which may end up resulting in illnesses being under-reported or detected later.

On the flip side, women may be more attuned to preventive care, often socialising more openly about health matters and actively seeking medical attention for symptoms.

Nevertheless, a study by Clinical Chemistry showed that women exhibited more inflammatory-related diseases and higher lipid levels. They also struggle more commonly with non-acute disabling health conditions such as arthritis. Besides that, certain women's health issues, such as reproductive health, are still surrounded by stigma.

No matter your gender, your health and wellbeing should be a priority

At different stages of life, men and women will face various health risks, which is why it's important to have health solutions tailored to our individual needs.

After all, 'men are from Mars, women are from Venus' — one size does not fit all. For instance, men may be more prone to risks associated with prostate issues, while women have to navigate the complexities of reproductive health, hormonal fluctuations, and breast health.

However, it's not always easy to get coverage personalised to your current life phase, or specific to your gender.

To address the distinct needs of men and women, Prudential is offering a whole new gender-specific insurance plan, PRUMan & PRULady, featuring coverage tailored to each gender

PRUMan & PRULady is an insurance plan that gives you protection for gender-specific illnesses, death, or permanent disability until you reach 70 years old.

This plan provides comprehensive coverage, including benefits such as the Recovery Benefit, Wellness Care Benefit, Fertility Care Benefit, and cash rewards to celebrate significant milestones in your life.

Plus, when the policy matures, the plan also provides a refund of the total premium paid!

Here's a deep dive into how Prudential's PRUMan & PRULady insurance plan can help you:

1. Get up to 260% coverage, so you actually have enough for recovery, lifestyle changes, and family planning

If you're diagnosed with a gender-specific cancer like breast cancer or prostate cancer, you'll get a 100% payout of the Basic Sum Assured (BSA), plus another 60% for recovery benefits.

On top of that, if you're diagnosed with Carcinoma-in-situ (the earliest sign of cancer), you'll get a payout of up to 50%.

That's not all. During pregnancy, you'll get another 20% of coverage for yourself and your baby. And, if you encounter problems with starting a family, the PRUMan & PRULady plan will also allow you to receive a payout of up to 20% or a maximum of RM15,000.

2. Earn cash rewards to support other life goals

When you celebrate significant milestones like getting married, landing that job promotion, owning a home or car, welcoming a new addition to your family, doubling your annual income, exploring 10 different countries, achieving fitness milestones such as completing a marathon or conquering a mountain, commemorating every 10th wedding anniversary, and embracing retirement at the age of 55, the PRUMan & PRULady plan will reward you with a 3% cash reward, based on your BSA.

You get to make up to three claims of your chosen life achievement.

3. Nurture your overall wellbeing, with dermatologist or psychologist visits covered up to RM5,000

Prudential recognises the importance of mental health and physical wellbeing. If you're struggling with skin issues due to severe acne diagnosis, or if you're looking to get professional help for your mental wellbeing, they cover up to RM5,000 per life.

4. Get back 110% of your total premium paid

You'll get back 5% of your total premium paid at 60 years old and another 5% at 65 years old. When your policy matures at 70 years old, you'll get back everything, which is 100% of your total premium paid.

What makes the PRUMan & PRULady plan stand out is that it not only gives you protection, but also so many cash rewards at different stages of life, woohoo! :D

All in all, Prudential wants to make sure you know that no matter your gender, they will always be there for you through every milestone of your life <3
