The gallery will allow visitors to view the latest works by previous winners of UOB Malaysia's annual UOB Painting of the Year (POY) art competition.

Incepted in Singapore in 1982, and later expanded to Malaysia in 2011, the art competition has continued to unearth new local talents as well as provide established artists with a second wind in their sails.

This falls in line with the bank's belief in using art to connect people across various languages, cultures, and ages.

Pieces featured at the UOB Art Space at AMBOI@TRX will include newly created masterpieces by previous winners of the art competition

Among the highlights are Jaclyn Teh's new semi-realistic pieces Ear and Powered. These pieces are fresh creations that showcase her evolving artistic style since being awarded Most Promising Artist of the Year in the Emerging Artist Category for the 2021 UOB POY art competition.

Speaking on the initiative, she said that getting involved in the competition earned her plenty of exposure and gave her avenues to much-needed financial assistance.

Mairul Nisa Binti Malik, who won in the same category for last year's edition, thanked TRX and UOB Malaysia for the opportunity to showcase her new work, Dah Kemas Semo Ka? II, as well as the chance to inspire the creation of art among Malaysians.
