Remember those days when we wrote "bagai aur dengan tebing" in school karangan, or when we ejek that one friend "bagai kacang lupakan kulit" after he gets a gf?
P/s: We hope you were the ejek guy and not the 'kacang' guy :P
So we recently challenged ourselves to guess the meaning of peribahasa and... HAH? Why got peribahasa about kencing wan?
Bahasa Melayu can be so fun if we learned it right! Which is why the Education Ministry is launching Dekad Bahasa Kebangsaan to uphold Bahasa Melayu as the national language locally, regionally and globally.
From 2020 to 2030, Dekad Bahasa Kebangsaan (National Language Decade) will be initiated to formulate a comprehensive plan that promotes and empowers Bahasa Melayu as the main language of choice not just in the country, but also in the ASEAN region and on a global scale.
Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik said the campaign will take on unconventional approaches to ensure Malaysians cultivate a reading habit and be known around the world as a reading society.
Speaking of the development of a knowledge-based society, UNESCO has also named KL as the World Book Capital for the year 2020, with the objective of "KL Baca - caring through reading" to foster a reading culture and inclusive education.
This programme will focus on four themes: reading in all its forms, development of the book industry infrastructure, inclusiveness and digital accessibility, and empowerment of children through reading.
