Australian Tourist Breaks Into Tears After Experiencing Malaysian Hospitality On KTM Ride
"People are so, so lovely. They just welcome you with open arms and give you a lot of food," he said.
An Australian couple travelling in Malaysia has vlogged about the wonderful experience they had while travelling on the intercity train from Kelantan to Pahang
The couple, John and Jay, are known as the Bucket List Travellers on YouTube.
In a recent video posted on 7 May, they shared about their trip on the east coast of Malaysia, where they travelled by the KTM intercity train from Kota Bahru, Kelantan to Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
They shared that they spent the day enjoying the view on the "jungle train", and visited a few attractions along the way in Kuala Krai, Dabong, and Gua Musang
The couple sang praises about the train, commenting that it was clean and well-maintained, and that they were also impressed with its smooth online ticketing service.
They also shared that they only spent a total of RM14 per person on the train tickets.
However, most memorable of all, the couple agreed, was the unexpected kindness they experienced on the train
They said a group of curious school children came up to them to practice speaking English.
Besides that, another passenger had also come up to give them fish cakes to eat.
They added that the train staff had also been very helpful and welcoming.
"It never ceases to amaze me how kind the people of Malaysia are," said the husband, John, after he and his wife were given the fish cakes
"People just came up to us and we started talking and having a conversation. And before you know it, we've been given food, which is really nice," he said.
With sudden tears in his eyes, he added, "I'm overwhelmed by how nice Malaysian people are."
Having travelled in Malaysia for a total of three months, the couple also observed that locals just love welcoming others with food.
"People are so, so lovely. They just welcome you with open arms and give you a lot of food," he said in an emotional monologue at the end of the video.
"It's their love language, right?" his wife asked, to which he replied, "Yeah, Malaysia's love language is giving food."
