1 Dead & 1 Injured After Large Tree Falls On Jalan Sultan Ismail
Authorities said 17 vehicles were affected by the incident.
A 47-year-old man died after a large tree fell onto his car on Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur today, 7 May
According to FMT, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said its personnel rescued two victims trapped by the fallen tree.
One of the rescued victims, the 47-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics.
Meanwhile, the other victim, a 26-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital to treat his injuries.
In a statement, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations assistant director Fatta Amin said 17 vehicles were affected by the fallen tree
He said his department received a distress call at about 2.19pm and personnel from four fire stations were deployed to the scene.
The New Straits Times reported that the tree had also damaged several public facilities, such as a bus stop by the roadside.
Rapid KL said its monorail services between the Hang Tuah Station and Medan Tuanku Station were temporarily suspended after the tree fell on its tracks.
In its latest Facebook post, the public transport company stated that eight buses have been deployed to the area to momentarily shuttle commuters between the two stations.
