12 People Travelling From KL To Genting Highlands Fined RM5,000 Each

12 individuals were compounded by the police for trying to travel interstate to Genting Highlands
In a statement that was issued on Facebook, Bentong district police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar noted, "On 15 September, a team of police under the Bentong district police headquarters (IPD) made an Op COVID-19 snap check at the KM17 Kee Sang checkpoint in Genting Highlands, Pahang."
He added that that 10 men and two women were compounded and they were between the ages of 20 and 58.
Each person was issued a fine of RM5,000
"After inspection, 12 individuals were fined for failing to produce valid interstate travel permits from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM)," Zaiham added.
He also said that all the people compounded were from Kuala Lumpur heading to Genting Highlands.
They were fined under Regulation 17(1) Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulation (No 2) 2021
Zaiham also emphasised that the police will continue to take strict actions on individuals who fail to obey and are complacent on the standard operating procedures (SOPs) determined by the National Security Council (MKN).
