12-Year-Old Boy Mowed Down By A Lorry After He Fell Off His Bicycle In Johor

In a tragic accident, a 12-year-old boy was killed after he fell off his bicycle and was run over by a lorry driver in Simpang Renggam, Johor
Kluang district police chief ACP Low Hang Seng said the tragedy occurred on Friday, 9 October.
According to him, his department received information about the accident at about 4pm and the victim, Abang Muhammad Haizad Abang Thimbone, was confirmed dead at the scene.
The 12-year-old suffered severe head injuries, reported Bernama on Saturday, 10 October.

ACP Low said that the 12-year-old victim lost control of his bicycle and fell onto the road at Taman Rekamas 2, following which, he was hit by a one-tonne Daihatsu lorry.
An investigation has been opened into the case
According to ACP Low, the lorry driver, aged 52, has since been detained under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
He stated that the lorry driver had stopped his vehicle after he realised that he had run over something.
"Upon realising that he had run over something, the lorry driver stopped the vehicle about 15 metres from where the victim was lying down," ACP Low was quoted as saying by the national news agency.
