13 World Leaders Who Extended Their Commendations Towards Anwar Ibrahim
Some political leaders personally called Anwar to congratulate him.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister (PM) and many rang in their commendations for their newly appointed premier
Aside from locals, Anwar also received international applause from notable figures from across the globe.
The Malaysian premier took the opportunity to thank everyone, who extended their felicitations to him, through Twitter.
Anwar also personally thanked some of the world leaders who acknowledged and congratulated him on his premiership.
From Singapore to the US, here are the world leaders that congratulated the newest Malaysian Prime Minister:
1. Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong
Lee took the opportunity to write a personal letter of congratulations to Anwar.

2. 14th Dalai Lama, His Holiness Gyalwa Rinpoche
The Dalai Lama's commendation was written to the Malaysian prime minister on his website.
His Holiness professed his hope that Malaysia will continue to prosper and contribute to the peace and stability around the world.
5. President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo
Anwar received a personal call from Indonesian president Joko Widodo after his appointment ceremony, with both leaders amicably chatting with each other.
The Indonesian leader was the first to congratulate him, saying that he looked forward to strengthening Malaysia's close relationship with Indonesia.
6. Turkiye president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan
Just like the Indonesian president, Joko Widodo, the Turkish president personally called Anwar on the phone to congratulate him. Only this time, the Malaysian premier was in the middle of his first-ever press conference.
Nonetheless, Anwar thanked Erdogan for his well-wishes, while the press listened in and cheered on the exchange.
