[PHOTOS] 2 Workers Injured After Slab At DASH Highway Construction Site Collapses
According to Selangor fire and rescue department chief Norazam Khamis, while one worker was slightly hurt, the other was seriously injured on the waist after he was hit by a chunk of rubble.
Last night, 19 June, two workers were injured after a concrete slab and metal scaffolding collapsed at a highway construction site above the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) in Kota Damansara
According to a report in Bernama, the workers, in their 20s and 40s, were carrying out construction work under the 12m high concrete structure near the Kota Damansara exit toll when the incident occurred.
Bernama quoted Selangor fire and rescue department chief Norazam Khamis as saying that while one worker was slightly hurt, the other was seriously injured on the waist after he was hit by a chunk of rubble.
"They were sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment," he said.
The incident happened around 7pm Saturday night, during which the material fell from the height of 12m.
A stop-work order at the construction site had been issued
Projek Lintasan Damansara-Shah Alam Sdn Bhd (PROLINTAS), the project developer, in a statement the incident did not involve highway users or the public as it took place within a covered construction area.
"The DASH Emergency Response Team (ERT) was at the scene to control traffic and remove the metal scaffolding involved. A stop-work order at the construction site was issued immediately," it said.
According to the company's statement, the developer and main contractor involved will give their full cooperation in the investigation conducted by the authorities.
