A 50-year-old man in Melaka was recently arrested for throwing a petrol bomb into his friend's house
Central Melaka district police chief ACP Afzanizar Ahmad told The Star that the incident took place at a home in Taman Melaka Baru on Monday, 15 February.
He said the 49-year-old victim heard a loud noise outside his house at about 6pm and lodged a police report at 7.45pm on the same day.
Police found that the crime was an act of jealousy.
The suspect's girlfriend had left him after falling in love with his friend.
According to Kosmo!, Afzanizar said, "The incident is believed to have been caused by the suspect's envy against the victim who lives with his 46-year-old ex-girlfriend. It is understood that the suspect was in a relationship with the woman for six months while the new couple have been together for three months."
He also noted that the victim found a glass bottle containing petrol believed to have been used as an explosive.
When authorities reached the scene, they found soot and fire damage on a shoe rack as well as on the roof of a Honda Jazz that was parked inside the house.
