78-Year-Old Grandma Didn't Go Easy On The Man Who Tried To Rob Her

He tried to rob her with a penknife.

On 28 March, a 28-year-old Malaysian man was arrested in Singapore for trying to rob a 78-year-old woman with a penknife

Channel NewsAsia reported that the man demanded money from the woman who manages Everyday Mart, a convenience store on Tyrwhitt Road.

According to Sin Chew, the man only attempted to attack the woman when he saw that she was alone in the convenience store.

The man took out a penknife and demanded that she hand over the cash, but she wasn't about to give in without putting up a fight!

The woman demonstrated how she hit the penknife off the robber.

"I thought I heard him wrongly when he told me to give him all the money, I only knew he was serious when he reached for the cashier," the woman was quoted as saying by Sin Chew.

According to the report, the woman had learnt Judo in her early years, and she put her skills to use when the man attempted to rob her.

She hit the penknife off the robber with her bare hands before he ran away from the scene.

The woman reenacted the incident with a reporter.

The man was arrested by Singaporean police within five hours of the incident, and charged with attempted armed robbery

Once convicted, he will receive a jail sentence between two to seven years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
