A 10-Month-Old Baby Was Allegedly Beaten To Death By His Babysitter In KL
Serdang district police are investigating the babysitter for murder.
A 10-month-old boy died at Hospital Serdang yesterday, 12 March
According to a post-mortem conducted by the hospital, the infant's death was caused by severe abdominal injury due to blunt force trauma, New Straits Times reported today.
The baby was suspected to have been physically abused by his babysitter at Taman Sri Indah in Serdang.
"The baby was unconscious when he was brought in. They administered respiratory aid but failed to revive the infant," officer-in-charge of Serdang police district (OCPD) Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Ismadi Borhan was quoted as saying by The Star on Thursday.
The infant was fine when he was sent to the babysitter's house at 8am
The father said that his son was in a perfectly healthy condition when he dropped him off.
"Both parents were working and have known the babysitter for some time," ACP Ismadi said.
Police have since arrested the babysitter for investigation
The babysitter, who is in her late 30s, had called the baby's father to inform that his son had been injured. The father arrived at the babysitter's place to find his son unconscious.
He then rushed the baby to the Serdang Hospital at 5.17pm yesterday, where he was pronounced dead.
Following which, the babysitter was arrested at her house. She is a Thai woman and is married to a local.
According to reports, she will be produced in court in Petaling Jaya today, 13 March, for a remand order.
