A driver was caught on video leaving a shopping mall's parking lot by closely following the car in front to get past the boom barrier

According to Malay Mail, the driver's act was captured on the rear camera of the car it was tailgating.

In the video, the black Honda Civic is seen dashing through the exit with the vehicle ahead before the boom barrier came down.

The incident is believed to have taken place at Mid Valley Megamall

The 25-second clip has been making its rounds on social media after it was initially shared on a Facebook page called 'We Are Malaysians' on Tuesday, 1 October.

The video has been viewed over 52,000 times at the time of writing.

The post invited a barrage of comments from Malaysians who heavily criticised the Honda Civic driver

A Facebook user called the driver embarrassing and a "cheapskate".

Someone suspected that it's not the driver's first attempt at skipping payment.

Another user jokingly thanked the Facebook page for sharing the free parking 'tip'.

This user speculated that the driver could have stolen the car and was making a break for it.
