How A 7-Year-Old Boy Was Tortured After He Was Sent To Live With His Tuition Teacher
The abuse resulted in second-degree burns on the boy's buttocks.
A family in Johor thought it was a good idea to send the youngest child in the family to live with a tuition teacher for his studies. However, to their horror, the boy was abused instead.
According to the victim's sister, Lim Poh Shan, her 7-year-old brother was invited to stay with the tutor at her house in Taman Perling in Skudai, Johor Bahru for two weeks.
The invitation was extended to the family as the victim is said to be naughty, and he did not complete the homework that was given to him.
The tutor was known to them as 'Miss Wong'.
Little did they know that the Standard 1 pupil was enduring abuse from the tutor for almost two weeks while he was away from home
It was reported that the tuition teacher had allegedly beaten the boy with a rotan so severely, until those beatings left marks on his buttocks.
In an attempt to cover up those bruises, the tutor allegedly applied a heated wok, glass and plastic on those marks.
The boy ended up with second-degree burns instead.
It is also said that he was not given any food or drinks ever since he started staying in the teacher's house.
Unable to withstand the abuse any longer, the boy managed to escape and hid in a neighbour's house on 26 March
"I was informed about this incident by a husband and wife, who are the tutor's neighbour, at about 5pm yesterday (26 March), saying that my brother ran way from the teacher's home and was hiding in their home now."
"When I rushed to see my brother, I found blood stains on his pants and burns on his buttocks. My brother told me that the tutor had been caning him and burning his buttocks with cups and wok that were immersed in boiling water," Poh Shan was quoted as saying by Bernama.
Lim's brother is confirmed to have suffered second-degree burns and is being treated at Hospital Sultanah Aminah.
She has lodged a police report on the matter.
Meanwhile, the police have since arrested a man to assist in the investigation
Johor Baru Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Taib Ahmad confirmed that a 26-year-old suspect who is an assistant to the teacher was arrested to facilitate ongoing investigations.
He added that the police are currently in search of the teacher involved and several other teachers from the tuition centre located in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Skudai.
The case is being investigated under the Child Act 2001.
