An Elderly Tourist Died On A Zebra Crossing After Being Hit By A Car In Penang

A Caucasian tourist succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a car at a zebra crossing in Pulau Tikus, Penang

According to a tweet posted by a witness, the man was hit by a white Myvi that allegedly ran the red light on Thursday, 24 January.

The netizen included a video in the post of the deceased lying on the zebra crossing with a bloody head

Meanwhile, the only damage to the Myvi that can be seen in the video is an unhinged car plate and a crack on the windshield.

In response to the post, several Twitter users pointed out that the road in Pulau Tikus has always been dangerous for pedestrians

"Even with all the pedestrian crossings and traffic lights there I'm still afraid to cross the road because cars will just hit you," wrote one netizen.

A similar accident occurred last year when a 58-year-old woman was hit by a motorcyclist in a hit-and-run in Pulau TIkus, The Star reported.
