At 11.52pm on 21 September, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim posted a throwback photo from his time at Sungai Buloh Prison
"Memories in Sungai Buloh. Meeting family behind glass, only over the phone. A moment that remains forever in memory," he wrote, accompanied by the hashtag #throwback.
The photo showed Anwar sitting behind a glass partition and iron bars inside a prison visitation booth, holding a telephone receiver while speaking to someone on the other side.
Anwar did not say when during his incarceration the photograph was taken.
The post came amid renewed attention on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is currently serving his sentence at the Kajang Prison and has been granted a royal pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest, subject to the RM50 million fine being paid first.
Anwar's post has since attracted more than 35,000 likes and over 5,000 comments.
Social media users have been speculating about the number '11' seen in Anwar's photo
While Anwar did not explain the reason for sharing the photograph, some social media users have speculated that the number visible outside the glass partition may carry a hidden meaning.
A Facebook page called Najib Razak Must Go pointed to the figure "11" visible in the photograph and asked whether the post was intended as a "cryptic message".
"PMX posted this photo a few hours ago. But why? Is this yet another cryptic message from PMX? Is the cryptic message '11'? What is '11'?" the page wrote.
The page later commented on its own post, linking the number 11 to Najib.
"Najib's favourite number 11," it wrote, before listing several instances in which the number appears in relation to Najib's life and political career.
These included examples that Najib's parents' birthdays fall on 11 March 1922 and 11 June 1933, that his first child's birthday is 11 May 1978, and the fact that Najib's house number is 11.

Image via Arif Kartono/AFPThe page also pointed out that Najib was the 11th Orang Kaya of Pahang and the 11th Menteri Besar of Pahang, as well as UMNO's founding date of 11 May.
It further cited Najib's dissolution of Parliament on 7 April, noting that 7 plus 4 equals 11.
However, Anwar's post itself does not state that the number 11 was intended as a reference to Najib, nor does he provide any explanation for the timing or meaning of the photograph beyond describing it as a memory from Sungai Buloh Prison.
The significance, if any, of the number visible in the photograph therefore remains speculation among social media users.
