Anwar: RM300 Cash Aid For Households, RM100 For Singles & RM150 For Students In January
The Prime Minister also announced an additional RM200 cash aid for small-time rubber farmers.
Today, 20 December, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government will continue with the direct cash aid programme for the people implemented by previous administrations
According to Anwar, the direct cash aid that was scheduled to be paid in March 2023 would be brought forward to January after taking into consideration the burden felt by the people right now.
This will benefit nine million people, including households and singles.
While households will receive RM300, singles will receive RM100 from the allocation, which involves RM2 billion, the Prime Minister said. He, however, did not detail income brackets for recipients.
"I hope this early distribution will help ease the burden of the people," he said while tabling the Consolidated Fund (Expenditure on Account) bill 2022, also known as the 2023 Mini Budget in parliament.
Anwar also announced RM150 in school aid to be given to all students in January without a condition on their household incomes
He said that cash aid is important to allow the purchase of adequate school equipment for the children.
"With an entire generation missing out on their education following the recent COVID-19 pandemic crisis, it is important to prepare children with appropriate school equipment," he told the Dewan Rakyat.
The mini budget will also fund textbooks and meal assistance programmes for schoolchildren.
Small-time rubber farmers will get an additional RM200 cash aid
This will fall under the Monsoon Season Aid in January next year.
The RM200 is on top of the RM600 already paid out to 320,000 recipients in November and December.
Meanwhile, some 1.3 million civil servants from Grade 11 to Grade 56 will enjoy an RM100 salary increment starting next year
Anwar said that this is to continue with the previous government's proposal to raise the civil servants' salaries, along with a special cash aid of RM700 to be given to them, while pensioners will get RM350.
