Anytime Fitness Asia's owner is considering selling its operation in eight Asian markets for USD400 million (about RM1.62 billion), according to people familiar with the matter

In a report yesterday, 18 August, sources told Bloomberg that Inspire Brands Asia, the Asian master franchisee of the gym chain, is working with an adviser on the potential divestment.

The company has reportedly started reaching out to prospective buyers.

According to its website, Inspire Brands Asia operates a network of more than 600 clubs across Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The company has more than 150 company-owned locations and was established at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic with backing from some of the region's top submaster franchisees, including Exacta Capital Partners and Aura Group.

Sources said discussions are still ongoing, with no guarantee that a deal will materialise

Anytime Fitness operates 138 gyms in Malaysia. The brand is known for its 24-hour operations, allowing members to work out at any time of the day.

On its website, the company promotes its services as offering convenience and community, providing not just workout equipment but also coaching to help members achieve their fitness goals and a supportive community for extra motivation.

Bloomberg reached out to Inspire Brands Asia, but the company declined to comment, while Exacta Capital Partners and Aura Group did not respond to its requests for comment.
