BMW Driver Involved In Hit-And-Run On North-South Expressway Turns Himself In

According to New Straits Times, the accident involving a BMW and Proton Inspira occurred at KM385.6 of the North-South Expressway near Tanjung Malim, Perak, when the BMW suddenly switched from the middle lane to the right-most lane, in front of the Proton.
Muallim district police chief Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said that the Proton driver tried to avoid the other car but lost control and hit the right side of the BMW's rear before crashing into the road divider.
Sinar Harian reported that the BMW driver fled the scene following the crash.
The 30-year-old Inspira driver injured his hand, while his 30-year-old wife injured her left ankle as a result of the crash.
The couple's four-month-old baby, however, is in dire condition.
Due to the impact of the crash, the baby boy was thrown into the middle of the road, resulting in a fractured femur and hip, and bleeding on his head, reported New Straits Times.
Another male passenger escaped unhurt. The victims were taken to Slim River Hospital while the baby was sent to Raja Permaisuri Hospital, where he will reportedly receive surgery to correct his femur and pelvic bones.
The mother had pleaded with members of the public to turn in any footage of the incident as there were conflicting accounts.
"Please share (the footage) with me. The driver has accused my husband of crashing into his car instead," she wrote in an Instagram story, which has been widely shared on other platforms.
On Tuesday, 12 July, Hasni said that the BMW driver came forward and lodged a report at the Gombak police headquarters at 3.17pm
"He also went to the Muallim police district headquarters at 10pm and had his statement recorded," reported New Straits Times.
He also added that both vehicles were detained for inspection and chemical tests by the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre in order to determine the 'point of impact' of the accident.
The incident is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
