Sarawak's Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem passed away at 1.20pm today, 11 January
He would have turned 72 on 27 January.
According to Malaysiakini, he has been seeking treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan.
The news was confirmed by Adenan's personal heart physician, as mentioned by the Malay Mail Online in a tweet at 2.27pm.
Adenan's exact cause of death remains unknown.
Condolences have been pouring in from political leaders and local activists. Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang has described Adenan as "one of the most respectable man he has ever known".
