British Woman Who Rated Airline Nasi Lemak 0/10 Apologised And Said She "Meant No Offence"
"I hope to try the real thing one day!"
Angry netizens flooded a British woman's social media account after she called nasi lemak a "wickedly bad meal"
On 15 January, Twitter user @KatieMorley_ wrote, "In the name of public interest, am sharing this wickedly bad meal British Airways treated me to during a [13-hour] flight."
"Behold: Chicken curry served with anaemic boiled egg, topped with smelly, slimy anchovies. Quite like plane food usually, and this was 0/10."
The tweet prompted Malaysians and nasi lemak lovers to band together and defend the dish.
The woman has since apologised and said that she meant no offence
She wrote, "Many Malaysians have got in touch to say the meal I tweeted about yesterday is a popular national dish. I'd not come across it before and meant no offence. As many have pointed out, I was clearly served a very poor version by [British Airways]."
"Sure it can be lovely and hope to try the real thing one day!" she added.
Malaysians are now inviting her to come to Malaysia and try out a proper plate of nasi lemak
One person replied to her saying, "No worries. If you come to KL, have a go at Village Park in Damansara Utama for their nasi lemak. It is one of the best in KL."
"You're welcome to come to Malaysia and try the real nasi lemak and you would definitely not regret it. You will probably even get hooked on it. Those people in British Airways really messed it up and did you wrong. Shame on them and sorry for the bad experience," wrote another netizen.
A Twitter user wrote, "Hopefully you can come visit Malaysia to try the real and original version of nasi lemak."
"When it comes to food, Malaysians will unite and when someone talks bad about our food heritage, we cannot sit silently. My apologies on behalf of the Malaysians who threw bad words at you."
