A 42-year-old man in China hosted a lavish wedding for his wife over a decade after they legally tied the knot

The long-awaited celebration was not just an acknowledgement of their journey but also a fulfilment of a promise that Wen made to his wife during hard times.

According to South China Morning Post, Wen legally married his wife in 2009 without a proper ceremony as the couple were grappling with financial constraints back then.

Wen confessed that not being able to hold a proper ceremony for his wife was one of his "biggest regrets in the past decade".

However, the tables have since turned for the couple, with both now successfully running a business in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province.

Recalling the past, Wen expressed immense gratitude towards his wife for her unwavering support during their tough times

"In the past, we had nothing. My wife has not abandoned me over all these years and she's always been with me through various difficulties together. Whatever happened, she would always support me," reminisced Wen.

Wen also shared that he felt compelled to give her a proper wedding ceremony as a way of appreciating his wife's sacrifices.

"I often said to my wife that when I am rich enough, I will give you a perfect wedding and invite all our relatives and friends to witness our happiness," he added.

Wen's promise came to fruition as the couple finally celebrated their union in their hometown village in the suburbs of Changsha on 17 October

Relatives and friends of the couple were seen taking part in their celebration with some playing the drums to add a celebratory vibe, reported South China Morning Post.
