Couple Under Fire For Halting KTM Train During Wedding Photoshoot At Guillemard Bridge
Netizens are urging the authorities to charge the couple under the Railways Act 1991.
A couple is facing public backlash for causing a KTM to come to a complete halt due to their wedding photoshoot on the tracks at the scenic Guillemard Bridge in Tanah Merah, Kelantan
The issue caught netizens' attention after an 18-second video on TikTok went viral last week.
In the video, the couple is seen walking slowly to get off the bridge while the photographer dashes ahead to get to safety.
The KTM train can be heard honking repeatedly at the group as it comes to a complete halt.
At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 3.3 million views and 4,700 comments
"You have planned your wedding party, don't plan for your [funeral as well]," read a top comment.
"The bride seems like she doesn't want to leave. She keeps looking behind her. Does she want to sleep there?" wrote a TikTok user, while another added, "They can be charged under the Railways Act 1991. The evidence is right here."
SAYS has reached out to KTM Berhad and the TikTok account that uploaded the video for further information on the incident.
The Guillemard Bridge, the country's second-oldest rail bridge, was built by the Metro Carriage Wagon & Finance Co of Wednesbury, England, in 1920 and completed in 1924
According to the National Security Council, the 609m-long bridge was named after the British Governor at the time, Sir Laurence Guillemard.
The main purpose of the bridge was to provide passage for trains and other vehicles.
However, on 12 December 1941, the Guillemard Bridge was destroyed after the British army blew it up to prevent the Japanese army from advancing to Kuala Krai.
After World War 2 ended, the bridge was repaired and reopened on 7 September 1948.
