A man narrowly escaped being hit after a gunman fired at least nine shots at his SUV at a petrol station in Bidor, Perak, yesterday, 29 September
The incident, which reportedly happened around 6.10pm, was captured on CCTV footage that has since circulated online.
The footage shows a black sedan suddenly pulling into the petrol station before someone inside opened fire at a white SUV.
According to a report by China Press, the SUV's owner, who was wearing a white shirt, was reportedly inside the station's shop paying at the cashier when the shooting began.
The man can be seen rushing towards his vehicle after hearing the gunfire. He briefly looked inside the SUV before ducking down as the gunman appeared to fire again.
The man then paced around the vehicle in distress before driving away after the black sedan left the station.
The SUV was left with bullet holes across its windows
Another video circulating online shows multiple bullet holes across the SUV's windscreen and side windows.
The front passenger-side window also appears to have been completely shattered, while at least nine bullet holes can reportedly be seen across the vehicle.
A separate image circulating online appears to show bloodstains on the man's shirt. Despite this, he remained conscious and was able to stand and move around after the shooting.
Police have yet to confirm what happened
China Press reported that it had contacted the Perak police for further information but had not received a response at the time of publication.
The incident has also been reported by Sin Chew Daily and Oriental Daily, while the CCTV footage has been widely shared by local news aggregators and community pages.
Some Malay-language posts have described the incident as a shooting that was allegedly carried out near Bidor, while noting that the details have yet to be confirmed by the authorities.
As of publication, no official statement from the Tapah district police headquarters or Perak police confirming the victim's condition, the suspect's identity, or the motive for the shooting had been issued.
