Driver Allegedly Beaten To Death By Motorcyclists After An Accident In Semenyih
Five men have been arrested to assist with the investigation.
A 42-year-old driver was allegedly beaten to death by a group of motorcyclists in Semenyih, Selangor, last night, 20 February
According to Harian Metro, the incident allegedly occurred when the victim, driving a grey Proton Saga, collided with a food deliveryman.
After the accident, the victim was allegedly pursued by a group of motorcyclists until they arrived at Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2, where the victim lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a residential area's fence.
Kajang district police chief ACP Mohd Zaid Hassan said upon receiving a call about the accident, officers from the district traffic investigation department were deployed to the scene.
"Upon arrival, the officers noticed a car had crashed into the fence of one of the houses and saw a man lying in the middle of the road, with both hands tied.
"The officers also saw bruises and injury marks on the man's body," the New Straits Times quoted him as saying.
A medical team at the scene failed to resuscitate the victim
According to Mohd Zaid, eyewitnesses at the scene said that prior to police's arrival, several men had pulled the victim out of his vehicle and assaulted him.
When officers from the district traffic arrived, the group of men had fled the scene, reported Berita Harian.
As of now, five local men, aged 22 to 52, have been arrested, and authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 if the Penal Code for murder and under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless driving.
