It is believed the student had been using a "mushroom-flavoured" vape.
A Form 2 student fell from the first-floor roof of a school building in Kangar, Perlis, after reportedly becoming dizzy from vaping
According to Perlis Education Department director Rose Aza Che Ariffin, the student admitted to vaping in class towards the end of recess, which led to his dizziness.
"He tried to go down from the first floor of the school building through the roof pathway, but because he was dizzy, he fell to the ground," she was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times, adding that he sustained minor injuries to his leg.
The student became distressed and was uncontrollable after the fall
This prompted the school administration to contact the police.
"Police brought the student to the Kangar health clinic for an examination. He was tested for drugs, but it came out negative. The student's guardian took him home. He is in stable condition," Rose said.
The Perlis Education Department has instructed the school's discipline teacher to probe into the incident, including identifying the source of the vape device and conducting a follow-up on the student's drug test results
It is believed the student had been using a "mushroom-flavoured" vape.
"We are cooperating with the police. We will help the school prepare the report and take action," Rose said, emphasising that the department is committed to ensuring the student receives the necessary support during his recovery.
