A Form Three student has died by suicide after falling from an apartment block at Lebuh Sungai Pinang in George Town, Penang yesterday, 1 October

15-year-old Cheah Xin Hui was reported to have fallen from the 11th floor, where she was staying. According to New Straits Times, her body was found face down by a cleaner at about 8.45am.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Che Zaimani Che Awang later confirmed that the case has been classified as suicide, adding that the girl died due to serious head and chest injuries.

Che Zaimani revealed that the girl left behind four letters addressed to her family, friends, and classmates

"In her notes, the deceased asked her family and friends not to look for her anymore. She also said that she was disappointed in her family and the world. We believe family problems led to the girl’s death," the police chief said, as quoted by NST

In a letter to her mother, Cheah apologised for leaving her heartbroken and angry. She also told her mother to not feel guilty as everything that has happened was her fault.

"After I leave (this world), you have to talk to him about getting a divorce. I don't want to see you cry because of him anymore," she wrote, allegedly referring to her stepfather.

In the rest of the letters, Cheah lamented that she has yet to fulfill her lifelong dream and thanked her classmates for their companionship

According to China Press, in a letter addressed to her classmates, Cheah thanked them for ten months of companionship and wished them happiness. Another letter singled out an unnamed friend, thanking them for taking care of her in the past ten months.

In another letter quoted by NST, Cheah apologised for what she has done and mentioned that she has not achieved many things in life.
