A restaurant in Goh Tong Jaya, Genting Highlands, has been cleared of any wrongdoing for selling a patin fish dish for RM902 three months ago
According to FMT, Pahang Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee chairperson Sim Chon Siang said the Pahang Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry investigated the restaurant and found no elements of profiteering.
He said the restaurant did not violate the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act, as it had clearly stated the price of the fish at RM33.80 per 100g.
"The rate of RM338 per kg for the patin fish dish that weighed 2.7kg was found to be within the permitted range.
"And in the menu, the restaurant had clearly stated that patin fish is sold at RM33.80 per 100g," said Sim, who is also Teruntum assemblyperson.

The incident made headlines in March after a Singaporean tourist posted on social media complaining about the dish's nearly four-figure price tag
According to Stomp, the tourist dined at the restaurant with a group of 12 people from Singapore and China on 16 March.
The bill listed river patin buah twice, at RM479.96 and RM422.50, bringing the total bill to RM1,762.
The tourist claimed he was told that the river patin was an exotic fish and even more premium than river soon hock (marble goby), which was priced at RM228 per kg.
"Never did we dream that an economical patin fish could be so ridiculously overpriced, so much beyond that of a good soon hock," said the diner.
He also claimed that the patin tasted "normal" and he would have preferred the marble goby displayed in the restaurant's fish tank.
In response, the restaurant maintained that its staff had informed the diners of the fish's price and weight, but acknowledged that communication could have been clearer.
