Earlier this morning, 22 July, a four-year-old child was rescued from her abusive parents in Beranang, Selangor

A 24-second video of the alleged child abuse has been widely spread across social media.

According to a statement posted on Facebook, the police took action after receiving a report lodged by a 20-year-old man at 12.14am today.

Kajang district police chief ACP Mohd Zaid Hasan said that a local woman and her Singaporean husband, aged between 28 and 30, have been arrested and are now under remand for seven days until 28 July.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

A preliminary investigation has found that the abuse incident happened due to the child's refusal to eat rice, according to Mohd Zaid

The parents allegedly forced the child to swallow the rice, which caused her to vomit.

However, this is not the only instance of alleged abuse. Another nine-second video has also surfaced showing the same woman beating the child using a hanger.

The video was uploaded by the same man who lodged the police report.

The couple adopted the child from Indonesian parents, who could not afford to raise her

"The biological parents of the child are Indonesians. Due to that, she does not have a valid identity documentation. The victim was handed over to the suspects in April because her biological parents could not afford to raise her," he added.

The statement also noted that the victim was rushed to the Kajang Hospital to treat her injuries as soon as she was rescued this morning.

The police are urging anyone who has information about the incident to reach out to the nearest police station and to contact the investigating officer Inspector Suresh Krishnan at 017-4333795.

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
