Indonesian Man In Sarawak Sets Car On Fire After Losing His Job
He had been working at an oil palm plantation before he was terminated due to issues regarding his mental health.
An Indonesian man in Sarawak recently set a car ablaze after he was fired from his job
Harian Metro reported that the incident took place at Jalan Sarikei-Sibu on Thursday, 20 February.
The suspect, believed to be mentally unsound, was in the car with a friend when he suddenly took out a match and set the vehicle on fire
According to Astro Awani, the 27-year-old from Sambas, Indonesia had been working at an oil palm plantation before he was terminated due to issues regarding his mental health.
Sarikei OCPD Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang said that the man's friend was driving him back to his hometown when the incident happened.
"The suspect suddenly took out a match and set the car on fire. Thankfully, the friend pulled them both out of the car and they were saved," he explained.
The car was completely destroyed but no one was hurt
Sarikei fire station chief Mahmudin Narudin told The Star that it took 25 minutes to put out the fire.
Police have detained the suspect for further investigation and he will also be sent to the hospital for a check-up.
