Senior Malaysian drivers have been making headlines in serious, sometimes fatal accidents lately

On 26 May, a 67-year-old man was hit by his own car after failing to engage the handbrake on a sloped driveway.

Meanwhile, on 18 May, a woman in her 80s was arrested after being spotted driving against traffic in the fast lane of the Damansara–Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH).

Under Malaysian law, senior citizens currently face no age limit or mandatory health screenings when renewing their driving licences, relying entirely on self-declaration.
