The Road Transport Department (JPJ) recently launched a major crackdown called 'Ops Luxury', proving that a flashy ride does not exempt anyone from basic traffic laws

According to Harian Metro, two prominent individuals, including a former national footballer and a motivational expert holding Datuk titles, had their luxury vehicles impounded in Kuala Lumpur.

The former athlete was stopped while driving a Toyota Vellfire around Bukit Bintang at 4am yesterday, 24 May.

Authorities discovered both personalities had committed several serious traffic offences

The former footballer was caught operating with an expired driving licence, lacking insurance coverage, and driving with a road tax that had expired for five months.

Meanwhile, the motivational expert was intercepted in the Klang Valley driving a Mercedes-Benz Brabus AMG. His vehicle lacked insurance coverage and had road tax that had expired for one month, while displaying an old registration number despite having registered a new one.

During a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur JPJ Tow Depot last night, JPJ deputy director-general (planning and operations) Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi revealed that the operation uncovered a Porsche with an unpaid road tax bill totalling RM16,000

The longest-standing violation recorded during the crackdown involved a luxury vehicle operating with a road tax that had expired since 1 January 2025.

"JPJ takes this issue of non-compliance seriously and will continue to intensify enforcement through focused operations," Jazmanie stated, reinforcing the agency's commitment to road safety.
