Kelantan Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Hitting Student And His Mother With A Cane

The teacher allegedly hit the student on the head and his mother on the thigh.

A secondary school teacher in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a student and his mother in two separate incidents

According to Harian Metro, the 54-year-old male teacher was arrested after the student's mother lodged a police report against him.

Pasir Mas district police chief ACP Mazlan Hassan said the suspect allegedly hit the 14-year-old student on the head with a cane over an unknown matter on Tuesday, 11 August.

After learning about the incident, the student's mother confronted the school and attended a meeting with the teacher and school principal on Wednesday, 12 August.

During the meeting, the suspect allegedly began shouting before hitting the mother's right thigh with a cane.

Mazlan said the school principal witnessed the alleged assault and was surprised by the suspect's actions

The frightened mother then left the scene and lodged a police report.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

The suspect has been remanded for three days until Saturday, 15 August.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in jail, whipping, or both.
